Passport Information

In order to succeed in the 21st Century, students will need to be familiar with the world at large. According to author Martin Jacques, “the world will inevitably…become increasingly unfamiliar to us because it will be shaped by cultures and experiences and histories that we are not familiar with.”

As a means of preparing students for the 21st Century, Whitman-Hanson's Global Travel Program is designed to help students gain a greater understanding of the world’s cultures, languages, and histories in order to become better informed and prepared citizens in an increasingly globalized society.

Through travel experiences students will:

THINK GLOBALLY
  • Be a geographically informed person - understand the history and culture of various people around the world
  • Understand the interdependence of the world
  • Participate in international experiences
  • Think about issues from a global perspective

COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY
  • Converse proficiently in a foreign language
  • Communicate through a variety of media

CONNECT GLOBALLY
  • Use global knowledge to build relationships with people from other cultures
  • Seek knowledge to shape one’s own values and perspective
  • Help others understand multiple perspectives
