The Indian Head School Library is a resource for both students and staff. Under the direction of librarian, Mrs. Florence, students attend library each week. Instruction is given in a variety of genres to enable students to select books wisely. Students are allowed to take books out each week. To encourage students to take out different books, topics are selected seasonally and books are displayed to spark student interest. Students and staff also have access to a wide variety of magazines. In addition, the library is a source of audio-visual materials and a display for student work.
Students have been trained to use Destiny Quest to look up and find books on their own. This system also allows access to the World Book Encyclopedia. You can connect to these sites from the Resources page.
Every morning, the library is the site of the Indian Head Morning Newscast. Students from different classrooms have opportunities to be the announcers. The morning newscast includes the Flag Salute, Indian Head School Pledge as well as updates on the weather, menu, school happenings and more.
Mrs. Florence runs a Book Club during recess time. Students at each grade read and share a variety of interesting books.
The Indian Head School computer lab has 26 computers enabling each student to have access to technology. There are also 8 more housed in the library for student use. In addition, 14 netbooks can be signed out for use in classrooms.
