Hanson Elementary School Building Project
Welcome to the informational website for the WHRSD Hanson Elementary School Building Committee. We invite you to check this website often and hope you will use it to locate accurate and up-to-date information.
The building committee and the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) have reviewed many scenarios and options to provide an educationally sound, and fiscally responsible solution to meet the long term needs of the Town of Hanson. This web page, along with videos and links is available to provide the community with a transparant look at the final recommendation.
The Maquan School Feasibility Study investigated existing conditions and educational programs at Hanson’s elementary schools and examined options for upgrading facilities to meet the needs for the Town Pk-5 student population. Following a comprehensive examination of the two elementary schools in Hanson, a preferred option was identified to construct one new school on the Indian Head School site. The proposed new school will serve Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5.
The building committee and MSBA have determined this project to be the most educationally appropriate and fiscally responsible option. On July 31, 2013 the MSBA board unanimously voted to approve a grant of up to $29.3 million for a new combined elementary school.
