On May 18, 2010, ten Whitman-Hanson students showcased their dedication to academic pursuits in the annual Spellman Oratorical Competition. Members of the audience were captivated by the content rich orations and the natural presentation styles. Although we are only allowed to award prizes to the top three competitors, the English department truly believes all participants deserve to be recognized for their hard work. If you see any of the following students, please congratulate them on a job well done: Amanda Carey, Kathleen Collins, Hannah Farrell, Riley Fearon, Elyse Gould, Patrick Leonard, Derek McCormack, Shalynn Miller, Abigail Mixer, and Abra White. And the winners are…
1st Place: Abigail Mixer (coach- Caitlin Nagle)
2nd Place: Riley Fearon (coach -Brian Dempsey)
3rd Place: Kathleen Collins (coach - Ellen Galambos)

The English department would also like to take a moment to thank Superintendent Ruth Whitner and Principal Edward Lee for their continued support of the program, as well as the judges for generously donating their time and expertise – their job was extremely difficult last night!
